In an effort to enhance teaching quality and support the professional growth of its faculty, Cheng Shiu University held a Teacher Professional Development Workshop on February 21st. The event featured Wang Wan-Xin, a lecturer from the Department of Cosmetics and Fashion Makeup, who shared her experiences from participating in the EMI Overseas Professional Training Program. The event was well-received, with the International Conference Hall filled to capacity.
Ahead of the new semester, the Office of Academic Affairs organized this workshop to assist teachers in preparing for their upcoming classes. Dean Gong Rui-Wei delivered a keynote speech titled "Advancing Professionalism and Innovating Teaching: Connecting the University's Higher Education Development Plan with Faculty." His presentation provided an in-depth overview of the university's higher education development framework.
This winter, the university proudly sent 40 faculty members to the Fulbright EMI Overseas Professional Training Program, which was co-organized by the Southern Taiwan Bilingual Education Resource Center at National Sun Yat-sen University and the Foundation for Scholarly Exchange. Among the participants was Wang Wan-Xin, who attended a two-week English immersion course at the University of California, San Diego, and the University of Maryland.
Additionally, faculty members Cai Zheng-Nan from the Department of Electronic Engineering and Xiong Ren-Zhou from the Department of Mechanical Engineering shared their insights on creating award-winning teaching plans, specifically those involving the development of physical teaching aids. Xiong Ren-Zhou, who has been recognized for outstanding teaching plans for two consecutive years, emphasized the importance of "learning by doing" and noted that creativity and storytelling were key factors in his success.
