From January 29 to February 2, 2024, youth volunteers from Cheng Shiu University organized the "Winter Festival: Marine Explorers" winter camp at Liuqiu Elementary School.
Led by members of the Youth Volunteer Service Group and the Environmental Pioneer Team, the camp provided the children of Liuqiu Island with a vibrant and engaging winter camp experience.
The elementary students participated enthusiastically in a diverse range of activities designed to make their winter break unforgettable. These included natural science lessons, DIY crafts, dessert-making, marine conservation workshops, team-building exercises, sports, and group dance activities, enabling the children to learn through play and grow through collaboration.
The event was aligned with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 14 (Life Below Water).
In the natural science classes, the children gained ecological insights through direct observation, while the DIY crafts and dessert-making sessions encouraged creativity and the development of practical skills.
The marine conservation workshop not only heightened the children's environmental awareness but also sparked a deeper appreciation for nature.
This successful event brought joy to both the children and volunteers, while also contributing to the broader goal of sustainable community development.
