Renowned Southern Taiwan ink painter Gao Sheng-Xian, whose creative talents have stood out since his youth, has been honored with numerous prestigious national art awards. Starting today, the "Waterfalls and Waves - Gao Sheng-Xian Ink Painting Exhibition" is being held at Kaohsiung International Airport, featuring 23 of his ink paintings. The exhibition invites departing travelers to experience Taiwan’s stunning landscapes and to share in the artist’s deep appreciation for life and nature.

Sponsored by the Ever Rich Foundation, curated by Cheng Shiu University’s Arts and Culture Department, and under the guidance of Kaohsiung International Airport, the exhibition is located in the central gallery on the third floor of the airport’s departure hall. Gao’s 23 featured works, created between 2008 and 2020, include breathtaking depictions of waterfalls, ocean waves, cloud seas, and terraced fields. The exhibition will run until January 8, 2025.

In Gao’s early works, bamboo was a prominent theme, evoking a sense of serenity and distance. As his style evolved, he embraced themes of birds, flowers, landscapes, and the use of vibrant colors, creating multi-layered works imbued with poetic beauty. His artistic achievements have garnered numerous awards, including first place in the Southern Taiwan Chinese Painting Competition and the Ministry of Education's Literary Creation Award for Chinese Painting.

Curator Professor Cai Xian-You of Cheng Shiu University remarked on the vivid dynamism in Gao’s waterfall paintings. The force and energy of cascading water are masterfully conveyed through contrasts of light and shadow, with solid cliffs and flowing water seamlessly intertwined. Pieces such as "Beihai Sound of Waves," "Crashing Waves," and "Surging Tides" showcase the raw power and grandeur of nature, capturing the dramatic clash of waves against the shore.

Gao’s works have been exhibited at prominent venues such as the Kaohsiung Cultural Center, the National Taiwan Arts Education Center, the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, and the Tainan Art Museum. His paintings are also part of collections at institutions like the National Taiwan Arts Education Center, the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts, and Taitung University. Gao continues to push boundaries and innovate, creating works that reflect his ever-evolving artistic journey. The exhibition is open now, and visitors are invited to experience his extraordinary creations.
