Transforming Semiconductor Training: The Launch of a VR-Based Interactive Micro-Nano Technology Platform
As the semiconductor industry rapidly advances, the need for efficient training and talent development has become increasingly urgent. To meet this demand, the Core Facility Center of National Cheng Kung University, in collaboration with Cheng Shiu University's Department of Electronic Engineering and digital technology company CoolThink Digital Park, has introduced Taiwan's first "VR Interactive Micro-Nano Technology Training Platform." This innovative platform allows learners to simulate semiconductor manufacturing processes in an immersive virtual reality environment, eliminating the need to physically enter cleanrooms and significantly cutting down on both training costs and time.

Revolutionizing Training Through Immersive Virtual Reality
At a press event on December 22, 2023, National Cheng Kung University and Cheng Shiu University signed an agreement to expand the VR platform's use to various fields of micro-nano technology, including optoelectronics, information and communications technology (ICT), and quantum technology. The use of virtual reality in high-tech, high-risk sectors such as semiconductors not only transcends the limitations of physical space but also reduces the costs of hands-on experimental operations, leading to improved learning outcomes and efficiency.

Vice President Chen Hongzhen of National Cheng Kung University highlighted the value of VR technology for advanced technical training, particularly in semiconductor manufacturing processes. He believes this innovative approach will disrupt traditional training models, offering more flexible and adaptable education solutions for the industry.

Gamified Learning to Enhance Semiconductor Talent Development
Cheng Shiu University’s Vice President Huang Bowen emphasized that the "VR Interactive Micro-Nano Technology Training Platform" combines engaging, scenario-based interaction with practical educational value. This immersive tool helps students quickly grasp the complexities of semiconductor processes, allowing them to practice multiple operations in a virtual environment, thus avoiding the financial risks associated with errors in physical training.

The platform caters not only to university-level education but also provides an excellent learning opportunity for both newcomers and professionals in the semiconductor industry. It offers a valuable tool for learners at all levels, from novices to experienced technicians, to hone their skills and master cutting-edge semiconductor technologies.

Realistic Cleanroom Simulation: A Hands-on Experience
During the press event, faculty and students from both universities had the chance to experience the VR system firsthand. Many noted that the virtual cleanroom environment closely mirrored real-world operations, providing an authentic learning experience. One student who had worked in a semiconductor cleanroom commented on the platform's convenience, particularly in light of challenges like the pandemic, highlighting the growing importance of such technology.

The Future of VR in Semiconductor Training
Virtual reality is quickly becoming a standard tool for high-tech training. Its potential extends beyond education, with significant implications for the efficiency of semiconductor industry training. With the "VR Interactive Micro-Nano Technology Training Platform," training is no longer constrained by physical space, cost, or time, allowing for greater training effectiveness and advancing the field of semiconductor technology.

In conclusion, as VR technology continues to evolve, semiconductor training will become more flexible and efficient, fostering a new generation of talent with practical expertise and advanced skills.
