School Organizational Structure

Historical Development

Cheng Shiu University was established in 1965 by Mr. Chun-Yuan Cheng, Mr. Jin-Ke Kung, and Mr. Jin-Sheng Lee, who chose to build it by Cheng Ching Lake in Kaohsiung. The name "Cheng Shiu" was derived from the principles of "Rectify the Heart" and "Cultivate the Person" from "The Great Learning," and the school motto was established as "Strive for Perfection." In 2003, the institution was restructured into "Cheng Shiu University of Science and Technology" and was officially renamed "Cheng Shiu University of Science and Technology of the Cheng Shiu School Foundation" in 2016.

The university advocates the philosophy of "Pragmatism and Innovation, Pursuing Excellence," positioning itself as an "Industry-Oriented Teaching University with Pragmatism and Innovation." Actively aligning with national economic development policies and the needs of industrial and commercial information development, the university integrates "innovation" and "pragmatism" with "industry" and "campus," fully demonstrating the pragmatic and innovative characteristics of the university. It aims to provide the best teaching and learning environment for both teachers and students. In recent years, the university has continued to expand its mission of emphasizing both "theory and practice" and "technological integration," striving to cultivate students' practical abilities, enhance teachers' practical research and development, and closely cooperate with the industry for related research and development.
