The Kaohsiung City Taiwan University of the Arts Alumni Association’s joint exhibition, "Clarity," is being showcased at the Cheng Shiu University Art Center, featuring 59 works from 35 artists across various media. These diverse and distinctive creations highlight the artists’ unique perspectives. Vice President You Bu-Ping remarked that Cheng Shiu professor and Alumni Association president Zhang Jin-Lang brought the alumni works to Cheng Shiu, providing an opportunity for faculty and students to expand their artistic horizons.

Departing from previous urban-centered exhibitions, this year’s event is held at the tranquil Chengqing Lake on the Cheng Shiu campus, offering a peaceful contrast to the city’s hustle. The exhibition’s title, "Clarity," plays on the name of Chengqing Lake, reflecting the artists’ return to their original artistic intent—expressing beauty, goodness, and truth—without the distractions of fame or fortune. This invites viewers to explore a deeper, spiritual connection with the artworks.

"Clarity" showcases the simplicity and passion of the artists' inner worlds. Their bold and carefree expressions awaken the audience’s appreciation of art, encouraging a reconnection with their own inherent creativity and goodness.

Zhang Jin-Lang’s piece "Family" resembles a nest, with a tall male figure raising his left hand, palm down, symbolizing responsibility and protection for his family’s future. The figures are tightly intertwined, representing unity and support, with clay chosen as the medium to emphasize the strength of familial bonds.

Wang Jun-Sheng’s "Leisure and Freedom" fills the canvas with bold techniques and a modern, avant-garde composition. The artist’s precise depiction of sparrows, along with the branches and the romantic tones, blends figurative and abstract styles, evoking a sense of joy.

Xu Jia-Ming’s "The Invisible is Being Transmitted" features thousands of symbols leaping between two hands, creating the sensation of an otherworldly journey in search of illusion. The youthful and unconventional thought process contrasts with more traditional approaches, while the hands convey subtle messages, filled with anticipation.

These artists have drawn deeply from their creative roots, producing works that reflect a clarity as sharp as a mirror. The "Kaohsiung City Taiwan University of the Arts Alumni Association Joint Exhibition" serves as a powerful medium for artistic exchange, echoing the collaborative spirit of Cheng Shiu University’s Technology and Art Development Office, which co-organized the event. The exhibition runs through August 23.
