Cheng Shiu University Earns Dual Awards for Thesis Excellence: Research Capacity Recognized
On April 26, the National Central Library held the "2023 Taiwan Academic Resources and Impact Report Release Conference," where the usage statistics for academic journals, theses, and dissertations collected by the library were presented.
The report, drawing from the National Central Library’s three key systems—Master’s and Ph.D. theses, journals, and citations—provided a detailed analysis of thesis and journal authorization and reader engagement over the past year. The event also celebrated universities, research institutions, and academic publishers that made significant contributions to academic resources.
Cheng Shiu University was honored with two prestigious awards: the "Thesis Resource Contribution Award" and the "Thesis Open Access Award for Electronic Full-Text Authorization Rate and Volume." These accolades highlight the university’s robust research capabilities, which have been widely recognized.
The Thesis Resource Contribution Award evaluates the accessibility and usage of academic theses, considering factors such as the volume and rate of electronic full-text authorization in the 2022 academic year, as well as the download volume and rate of full-text theses in 2023. Cheng Shiu University ranked third among 63 private technical and vocational institutions across the country.
In recent years, Cheng Shiu University has actively encouraged its graduate students to authorize their theses for open access. The high number of downloads not only underscores the academic value of these works but also aligns with the principle of Open Access, which enhances the visibility of research and broadens its academic impact.
