Innovative projects from Cheng Shiu University’s Department of Electronic Sports and Liji High School’s Electronic Sports Department earned 2 gold medals and special awards from the UK and Romania at the 2024 Romania European Cup International Invention Exhibition. The award-winning projects, "Parking Alignment Warning System" and "Real-Time Road Condition Reporting System," were developed by teams led by Cheng Shiu University’s Director of Electronic Sports, Hsieh Zhe-Ren, and Liji High School’s Director of Electronic Sports, Lin Shi-Hong.
With over 900 patents to his name, Hsieh Zhe-Ren, known as Taiwan’s "Patent King," has spent 24 years in academia. After leading his team to victory at the 2023 Poland INTARG International Invention and Innovation Exhibition, where they won 2 gold medals and several international awards, Hsieh collaborated with Lin Shi-Hong to compete at the 2024 Romania European Cup International Invention Exhibition, achieving remarkable success once again.
Held from June 6 to June 8, 2024, in Iași, Romania, the EUROINVENT European Cup brought together innovative projects from over 30 countries. The event aimed to promote the integration of technology and art, fostering international collaboration and exchange in the field of innovation.
Director Lin Shi-Hong explained that the "Parking Alignment Warning System" helps address common parking issues, especially in 24/7 parking lots without attendants. Many drivers park improperly, either occupying adjacent spaces or parking too far to one side. This system alerts drivers to such issues, allowing them to correct their parking immediately.
The "Real-Time Road Condition Reporting System" addresses the problem of drivers wishing to report accidents or hazards to radio stations but being unable to do so due to the legal restriction on using mobile phones while driving. The system allows drivers to instantly report road conditions, including images, locations, and timestamps, directly to radio stations for timely broadcasts to warn other drivers.
Shih Yang-Long, President of the Taiwan Invention Products Promotion Association, noted that these two projects garnered significant attention during the exhibition and were highly praised by the judges, ultimately winning 4 medals. Director Hsieh Zhe-Ren emphasized that these accomplishments are the result of the team's persistent innovation and dedication, showcasing the research capabilities and academic excellence of Cheng Shiu University and Liji High School.
It is also worth highlighting that Cheng Shiu University actively encourages its faculty and students to participate in international invention competitions each year. In 2024, their entries in the "23rd Malaysia MTE International Invention Exhibition," the "27th Russia Archimedes International Invention Exhibition," the "Paris International Invention Exhibition," and the "European Cup International Invention Exhibition" collectively earned them 11 gold, 10 silver, 8 bronze medals, and 4 special awards, marking a highly successful year.
