Recipient of the Ministry of Education's 2023 Friendly Campus Award – Outstanding School in Southern Taiwan
Cheng Shiu University (CSU) has long been committed to student support and development. Upholding the core values of “Diversity. Inclusivity. We Care.”, CSU strives to create a friendly campus that embraces inclusiveness and diversity. These efforts have earned the university the Ministry of Education’s Friendly Campus Award for Outstanding School in the Southern Region.
Established for over 60 years, Cheng Shiu University offers a comprehensive range of academic programs across engineering, business, design, and nursing. With abundant learning resources and a strong track record of student and faculty achievements, the university actively supports students facing disadvantages to ensure equitable access to opportunities and resources through robust counseling and student services.
CSU’s student affairs system is built upon the foundational pillars of L.I.F.E., designed to provide students with a holistic and enriching campus experience. This framework is further extended through the “Plus” Initiative, which promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion across campus.
Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Shu-Yun Lin, emphasized the university’s continuous efforts to provide a high-quality and inclusive residential experience, described as a “Five-Heart” Living Environment:
-
Wholehearted Facilities: Constant upgrades to both hardware and software resources;
-
Caring Faculty: Dorm counselors provide 24-hour guidance and support;
-
Parental Peace of Mind: Automated access control and regular communication with families;
-
Thoughtful Services: Helmet and umbrella loan programs for added convenience;
-
Student Wellbeing: Health and leisure activities that foster safe, enjoyable learning environments.
To enhance post-graduation employment readiness, CSU has strengthened job matching services by establishing the CSU Career Portal, organizing annual Campus Job Fairs, and collaborating with the Ministry of Labor’s Employment Service Centers and the Kaohsiung City Government to provide on-site employment assistance and multiple job matching pathways for students and employers alike.
In addition, the Indigenous Student Resource Center provides one-stop services to support indigenous students through its “3C” approach: Care for Indigenous Students, Community Revitalization, and Cultural Integration, thereby promoting respect, diversity, and shared development.
Through innovative approaches to student affairs and counseling, CSU’s Office of Student Affairs not only enhances student development and guidance but also encourages personal growth and self-realization across all student groups, supported by accessible and compassionate advising resources.
