Cheng Shiu University and SGS Taiwan Sign MOU to Jointly Promote Health Management Education and Cultivate Globally Competitive Talent

Cheng Shiu University’s College of Health Management has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with SGS Taiwan, launching a strategic partnership to align health management education with international standards, while fostering professionals equipped with global competitiveness. University President Dr. Jui-Chang Kung stated that this collaboration with SGS will serve as a catalyst for expanded academic-industry partnerships in the future.

The MOU was signed by President Dr. Kung and Mr. Po-Yu Pao, Deputy General Manager of SGS Taiwan. The cooperation encompasses a wide range of initiatives, including the promotion of ISO standards related to health management, professional training and talent development, enterprise consulting and certification collaboration, and support for higher education advancement and sustainability, all aimed at helping students integrate smoothly into the professional workforce.

Building Industry-Relevant Skills in the AI Era

President Kung noted that in the era of AI transformation, it is crucial for all industries to adapt rapidly. Partnering with SGS—Taiwan’s most trusted inspection and certification organization—will not only enhance CSU’s institutional competitiveness but also significantly strengthen its health management curriculum and outcomes.

Mr. Po-Yu Pao, Deputy General Manager of SGS Taiwan, emphasized that Taiwan will officially become a super-aged society in 2025, with seniors expected to account for over 20% of the population. In this context, long-term care and health management are of growing importance. He highlighted the advantage of incorporating ISO standards into education to enhance graduate employability. “This partnership between two strong institutions marks a powerful beginning, and we look forward to deepening cooperation going forward,” he added.

A Win-Win Model for Industry-Academia Collaboration

Dean Dr. Hsiu-Jung Chou of the College of Health Management stated that both healthcare services and ISO compliance are vital. Through this collaboration, CSU’s academic research strengths and SGS’s technical applications will be integrated to achieve mutual success and innovation.

Now entering its 60th anniversary, Cheng Shiu University continues to shine as a leading force in higher education, producing thousands of outstanding graduates across a wide range of industries. In response to societal needs and labor market shifts, CSU recently established the Department of Nursing and the Department of Long-Term Care and Health Management, with a strong focus on cultivating mid-to-high-level management professionals to meet the challenges of an aging society.

President Kung concluded by emphasizing that this partnership with SGS not only provides students with internationally competitive learning resources, but also brings academic research and industry practice into closer alignment. Through this collaboration, the university aims to develop highly qualified professionals in health management to meet global standards.
