Cheng Shiu University Actively Responds to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Cheng Shiu University (CSU) has long been committed to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through continuous efforts in cultivating talents for sustainability, strengthening industry-academia collaboration, engaging with local culture, and implementing effective energy-saving and carbon-reduction strategies. The university regularly publishes its Sustainability Report and operates the “CSU Sustainability Website” to proactively disclose and showcase its sustainable development achievements to the public.

This year, CSU participated in the Global Views Monthly USR University Social Responsibility Awards and stood out among the many competing institutions. With its outstanding performance in local engagement, social innovation, and environmental sustainability, CSU was honored with the Excellence Award in the Sustainability Report Category, demonstrating remarkable results in ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices. The entire university community shares in this achievement with great pride.

The 6th USR University Social Responsibility Awards Ceremony, organized by Global Views Monthly, was held on the afternoon of April 8, 2025. Among 14 shortlisted universities, CSU's Sustainability Report was selected for the Excellence Award in the Sustainability Report Category. Vice President Dr. Ray-Wei Kung attended the ceremony on behalf of the university to accept the honor.

President Dr. Jang-Jong Kung remarked, "This recognition affirms Cheng Shiu University's dedication to sustainable development. We will further deepen our USR initiatives, broaden our social impact, and promote co-prosperity both locally and globally."

Looking ahead, CSU will continue to enhance collaborations between academia and industry by promoting the 3i Empowerment Strategy (iSmart × iSDGs × AI). The university aims to cultivate talents equipped with smart application capabilities, sustainability vision, and AI-enabled technical literacy, thereby contributing to industrial innovation and the intelligent transformation of society, and fulfilling its social responsibilities through concrete action.

According to Global Views Monthly, USR has become a key pillar of higher education in Taiwan. This year’s awards saw a record number of submissions: 67 universities participated, up from 54 last year—a 24.07% increase. The total number of project entries also rose by 25.7%, from 171 to 215. Ultimately, 7 top prizes, 33 model awards, and 27 excellence awards were presented, with an overall winning rate of 31.16%.
