Cheng Shiu University’s Xinpi USR project has been awarded the “Exemplary Award” by the CommonWealth Magazine. It is the only private technology university to receive this prestigious recognition.

“Through the ‘XinPi USR Project: Creating Sustainable Industry Revitalization in Xinpi Township,’ we participated in the Far Eastern University Social Responsibility Award, where we stood out among 120 entries and received the ‘Industry Collaboration Model Award.’ As the only private university to win this award, Vice President Zheng Shun-ren expressed that the XinPi USR project has been assisting and guiding local food and beverage businesses, facilitating menu design, food and beverage planning, and entrepreneurship, to ensure their success. Moreover, the project has been instrumental in solving agricultural product sales and promoting sustainable development in the six-tier industry.

The Far Eastern University Social Responsibility Award comprises several categories, including University Sustainability Reports, Ecological Coexistence, Welfare Cohabitation, Talent Co-learning, Green Campus, Local Inclusion, and Industry Collaboration. Among the six nominated projects in the Industry Collaboration category, our university was the only private university and ultimately won the Model Award in the final evaluation stage.

The award ceremony for the Fourth Far Eastern University Social Responsibility Award was held at the Shangri-La Far Eastern Plaza Hotel in Taipei. Vice President Zheng Shun-ren stated that the three-year implementation of the ‘XinPi USR Project’ has nurtured local startups such as the Amida Elf Valley Tea Plantation, Six Piles Vision Workshop, Annayo Group Purchase Store, and Six Piles Real Estate Good Things Direct Sales Store. It has also provided guidance to local food and beverage businesses in Xinpi Township, ensuring their menu design, food and beverage planning, and entrepreneurship are on the right track.

To enhance farmers’ income and add value to agricultural products, the project established a blockchain-based traceability system for high-quality fruits, which are sold on the blockchain platform. It also helped the Six Piles Vision Workshop and Xinpi Community Development Association pass the Council of Indigenous Peoples’ ‘Six Piles Indigenous Cultural Center’ and ‘Indigenous Travel in Piles’ projects, cultivating 12 local cultural guides.

Furthermore, the project collaborated with Huazhen Food to develop the ‘Fenghuang Crisp’ unique souvenir and commercialized it, contributing to solving agricultural product sales and promoting the six-tier industry, linking agriculture, food processing, e-commerce platforms, tourism, leisure farms, and catering industries.

Project leader Professor Chen Xin-hong and co-leader Director Wang Bao-xi expressed their gratitude for the judges’ recognition, as the XinPi USR Project was awarded the Model Award in the Industry Collaboration category. This award not only acknowledges the project’s efforts but also serves as motivation to continue striving for future success. The project will continue to leverage the power of cuisine, technology, culture, and education to foster the revitalization of industries in Xinpi Township.”
