Cheng Shiu University partners with OCAC to promote Southeast Asian students’ study in Taiwan

Cheng Shiu University (CSU) was honored to welcome distinguished guests from Thailand, Myanmar, the Philippines, and Cambodia for a visit. We would like to thank the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) for organizing this visit, which aims to enhance the understanding of domestic overseas students’ admission policies and teaching environment in Taiwan for educational counselors in Southeast Asia. It also helps to promote industry-academia cooperation to expand the source of overseas students.

The visit was hosted by CSU President Gong and other senior officials. The guests explored some of the amazing places on campus, including the ancient gatehouse and the Cultural Relics Conservation Center, and felt the profound historical heritage of the campus. In addition, they visited the smart vehicle laboratory of the Department of Electronic Engineering and the esports arena of the Department of Esports Technology to learn more about the latest developments in the current technology field.

The visit was attended by 42 educational counselors from Thailand, Myanmar, the Philippines, and Cambodia. They actively interacted and shared information about the admission situation and educational philosophy in their respective countries. This exchange has allowed us to better understand the characteristics and challenges of educational counseling work in various places, laying a solid foundation for future cooperation.

CSU’s enrollment numbers have been growing steadily in recent years, from 866 in the 2016 academic year to 4,512 in the 2023 academic year, setting a new record. This shows that the effectiveness of our specialized programs has been highly recognized by the overseas community. We sincerely welcome all educational counselors to become our partners and work together to cultivate outstanding international students. We look forward to more exciting cooperation and exchanges in the future!
