“Artistic Excellence” — Elite Art Creations Bring Sustainable Taiwanese Art to Life at Kaohsiung International Airport
“Artistic Excellence” — Elite Artworks Showcase the Vitality of Sustainable Taiwanese Art at Kaohsiung International Airport
Curated and organized by the Office of Technological and Artistic Development at Cheng Shiu University, the exhibition “Artistic Excellence: Elite Artworks as the Living Spirit of Sustainable Taiwanese Art” is now on view at Kaohsiung International Airport. The exhibit features 24 award-winning pieces from the Zhumeiyuan Art Awards, exploring themes such as natural landscapes, human society, and industrial civilization with rich diversity and depth.
Guided by Kaohsiung International Airport Station, sponsored by the Ever Rich Foundation, and curated by Cheng Shiu University, the exhibition is being held at the Central Gallery, 3rd Floor, Departure Hall of Kaohsiung International Airport, and will run through April 9.
Diverse Artistic Expressions Reflecting Taiwan’s Cultural and Environmental Identity
The exhibition showcases a range of styles from meticulous realism to semi-abstract and abstract painting. Participating artists include He Huizhi, Chang Kai-Yang, Jiang Yue-Xian, Chen Pin-Nian, Yu Wei-Cheng, Hsu Wen-Chang, Chen Guang-Rong, Wu Jing-Ying, Chung You-You, Kuo Yu-Li, Chen Wei-Xun, and Lu Zhen-Yang, each presenting unique interpretations of still life, portraiture, animals, landscapes, or modern industrial interiors.
Works such as “The Beauty of Yushan Ecology” capture the intricate flora of Taiwan’s highest peak with fine detail, immersing viewers in the aesthetic richness of Taiwan’s natural environment. “Serenity” and “First Light” bring to life the tactile essence of soil, plants, and water, while “Guernica Prelude: War and Peace” delivers a stark commentary on the contrast between hope for peace and the brutality of war.
In “The Source of Life,” the gentle form of a pregnant woman symbolizes the joy of continuity, while other works juxtapose classical Roman sculpture fragments with the suffering depicted in Picasso’s Guernica, drawing parallels through semi-abstract techniques to reflect on post-industrial civilization.
Art at the Airport: A Moment of Reflection Amid Travel
