Cheng Shiu University (CSU) has long been dedicated to strengthening industry-academia collaboration by actively aligning educational innovation with industry needs. Leveraging its outstanding research capabilities and achievements in cultivating practice-oriented professionals, the University has been honored with the Outstanding Industry-Academia Collaboration Institution Award by the Chinese Institute of Engineers (CIE) for 16 consecutive years, once again demonstrating the remarkable effectiveness of technological and vocational education in meeting industry demands.

Over the years, CSU has continuously promoted collaborative research and development projects, deepening partnerships with enterprises and government agencies. Through these efforts, the University not only nurtures highly skilled professionals who meet industry requirements but also contributes to regional development and sustainable growth through technological innovation, industrial services, and social engagement.

Strong Research Capacity Driving Industrial Innovation and Regional Development

CSU actively invests in research and technological innovation. Over the past three years, the University has obtained 145 patents and generated NT$66.44 million in technology transfer revenue, demonstrating outstanding success in commercializing research outcomes and facilitating industrial applications.

In 2025, CSU implemented 262 research and technology development projects with a total funding amount of NT$342.99 million, highlighting its strong research capabilities in engineering technologies, smart technologies, environmental sustainability, and industrial innovation.

Through industry-academia collaboration mechanisms, the University transforms research achievements into practical applications that enhance corporate competitiveness while injecting innovative momentum into industrial upgrading and regional economic development. These efforts exemplify the University's commitment to promoting social progress and sustainable industrial development.

Advancing Public Safety Through Technology and Fulfilling Social Responsibility

CSU's research achievements extend beyond industry services to actively address societal needs.

The Ultra Trace Research Technology Center and the Institute of Environmental Toxins and Emerging Contaminants have long been engaged in developing advanced analytical technologies for the detection of emerging illicit drugs. Their research supports law enforcement agencies by improving forensic efficiency and strengthening technology-assisted investigations, thereby enhancing public safety and security systems.

In addition, the Center for Cultural Heritage Conservation and Restoration integrates digital technology with cultural preservation expertise to establish scientific collection management systems and advance cultural heritage conservation and restoration initiatives. These efforts provide critical technical support for the sustainable preservation of Taiwan’s cultural assets.

Through practical projects and industry-academia collaboration programs, students gain hands-on experience in advanced instrumental analysis, testing technology development, and cultural heritage restoration, cultivating both professional competencies and a strong sense of social responsibility while embodying the University's educational philosophy of integrating theory with practice.

Promoting Net-Zero Transformation and Developing New Low-Carbon Models

In response to global climate change and the growing net-zero emissions movement, CSU actively engages in low-carbon technology development and industrial sustainability initiatives.

One notable example is the “Marine Wine Cellar Experiment and Beverage Analysis Project,” which utilizes the ocean’s naturally stable temperature to establish a zero-electricity, low-carbon storage model, exploring innovative possibilities for green circular economy practices and low-carbon industrial development.

Meanwhile, CSU has assembled interdisciplinary teams to assist industrial parks, including the Linhai Industrial Park, in adopting artificial intelligence technologies and energy-saving solutions. The University has secured NT$43.55 million in funding for these initiatives, which are expected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 690 metric tons of CO₂ equivalent annually, helping enterprises improve energy efficiency and accelerate their net-zero transition.

Through technological innovation and industry collaboration, CSU continues to play a proactive role in advancing green transformation and contributing tangible actions toward environmental sustainability goals.

Cultivating Interdisciplinary Talent to Strengthen Sustainable Industrial Competitiveness

Talent development is a fundamental pillar of sustainable development.

CSU continuously promotes interdisciplinary programs in artificial intelligence (AI), smart manufacturing, cybersecurity, and digital technologies. The University also implements major initiatives such as the Ministry of Education’s Five-Axis Machining Technology Talent Development Center, creating a talent cultivation environment that remains closely aligned with evolving industry trends.

Through industry-academia collaboration, corporate internships, and practical capstone projects, students gain early exposure to real-world industrial environments, enhancing their problem-solving skills, interdisciplinary integration capabilities, and innovative thinking. These experiences strengthen graduates’ employability and prepare them to become key contributors to industrial upgrading and sustainable development.

Centering on Sustainability and Co-Creating the Future with Industry

In recent years, in addition to receiving the CIE Outstanding Industry-Academia Collaboration Institution Award for 16 consecutive years, CSU has also been recognized with numerous prestigious honors, including the Global Views University Social Responsibility Award, the Taiwan Sustainable University Award, and the CommonWealth University Citizen Award.

These achievements not only reflect the University's excellence in industry-academia collaboration, talent cultivation, and research innovation, but also highlight its long-standing commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Looking ahead, CSU will continue to deepen industry-academia partnerships, promote innovative research and sustainable practices, and collaborate with enterprises, government agencies, and local communities to create new value that balances economic development, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability.
