Visit of the Association of Indonesian Vocational College Presidents to Cheng Shiu University and Signing of MOU Marks the Beginning of Collaborative Partnership
Through the Indonesia International Student Mobility and Academic (IISMA) program, the number of Indonesian students studying at Cheng Shiu University of Science and Technology has been increasing. This year, a total of 13 Indonesian students are scheduled to participate in the IISMA program at Cheng Shiu University for one semester, potentially making it the university with the highest number of Indonesian students in Taiwan.
Dr. Ahmad Taqwa, the current President of the Association of Indonesian Vocational College Presidents, along with a visiting delegation from FDPNI, visited Cheng Shiu University specifically for this purpose and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), aiming to achieve concrete outcomes through collaboration between the two parties.
The FDPNI delegation consists of 15 presidents from Indonesian state vocational colleges, including 3 individuals who have held or currently hold government positions.
The delegation was warmly received by President Gong Rui-Zhang, Vice President and Director of the Office of International Affairs Cheng Shun-Jen, and Deputy Director Ko Wu-Te. The visit included mutual exchange of commemorative gifts and a presentation through video about the university and the 2+i conference held earlier that morning in Jakarta, Indonesia. Following the presentation, MOUs were signed with each of the 15 college presidents.
President Gong mentioned that Ding Zhongwen, a student who served as the translator and emcee for the event, is a graduate of the first batch of the 2+i Mechanical Engineering program and is currently pursuing a master’s degree at the university. Despite having studied Chinese for only 3 years, Ding Zhongwen’s fluency is impressive, allowing him to serve as a capable translator and emcee for many events.
