Sustainable Education


 

 

CSU integrates the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into curriculum design, institutional development, and higher education initiatives, linking social issues with innovative teaching to cultivate sustainability-minded professionals.

 

 

SDG-Integrated Curriculum 

In the 2024–2025 academic year, 6,445 of 6,775 courses (95.1%) were aligned with the SDGs. the University also offered 103 ESG- and sustainability-related courses, totaling 105.5 credits across 19 departments and graduate institutes. These courses were taught by 58 faculty members and recorded 4,374 enrollments.

Courses were most closely aligned with SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, and SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, reflecting CSU’s educational priorities. the University will continue integrating sustainability across its curriculum.

Advancing Sustainability and University Social Responsibility Courses 

 

◎ Sustainable Development Micro-Credential Program 

In the 2025–2026 academic year, CSU launched a Sustainable Development Micro-Credential Program. Students complete eight credits across four sustainability fields to earn a certificate, broadening their sustainability perspectives and career readiness.

 

◎ University Social Responsibility Practice Certificate Program 

Since 2020, CSU has offered the University Social Responsibility Practice Certificate Program, comprising six core and six professional credits.

Through PBL and interdisciplinary fieldwork at USR sites, students identify local issues, develop practical solutions, and strengthen service and problem-solving skills. Five external experts annually review the program based on learning outcomes, employability, and industry needs.

In the second semester of 2024–2025, 526 students enrolled in the program. of 122 graduating students, 101 completed it, achieving an 82.78% completion rate.Since 2020, CSU has offered the University Social Responsibility Practice Certificate Program, comprising six core and six professional credits.

◎ USR Innovation and Social Practice Courses 

CSU encourages faculty to integrate social practice into professional learning, enabling students to apply their expertise in community service.

In 2024–2025, 83 courses recorded approximately 4,181 enrollments, with an average learning outcome score of 4.42 out of 5.

 

◎ Sustainability Faculty Communities

The Center for Teaching and Learning supports faculty communities through training, consultation, and funding to integrate the SDGs into practice-oriented teaching. In 2025, CSU established 10 sustainability-related faculty communities.

CSU advances sustainability through teaching, campus initiatives, and community engagement, strengthening sustainability literacy, practical skills, green living, and social impact.

◎ Sustainability-Oriented Student Clubs 

Under the Student Club Guidance Regulations, CSU encourages student participation in clubs and campus activities to develop teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, and resilience.

In 2024–2025, student clubs supported the SDGs through beach cleanups, plant-based food promotion, second-hand charity sales, book exchanges, and recycling workshops in educational priority areas.

The Office of Student Affairs provides leadership training and club evaluations to strengthen student engagement and organizational development. in 2025, the Hospitality Service Club received an Honorable Mention in the national student club evaluation, while the Student Association earned three achievement certifications at the national student association showcase.

Chunhui Volunteer Service Club

● Promote health awareness by preventing drug abuse and reducing tobacco hazards.

● Activities include volunteer training, anti-smoking and anti-drug education, and outreach programs in elementary schools.

● Enhance global perspectives, improve international students’ Chinese proficiency, and promote cross-cultural exchange between local and international students.

● Activities include special education support, homeless services, community care, and general volunteer work.
