In recent years, society has placed increasing emphasis on campus safety and gender equality. In response, Cheng Shiu University has continued aligning with Ministry of Education policies by actively promoting campus safety protection mechanisms and gender equality education. Through educational advocacy, strengthened environmental safety measures, and comprehensive student support systems, the university is committed to building a sustainable campus environment centered on safety, respect, and humanistic care.

According to a Ministry of Education directive issued on May 11, 2026, following recent incidents involving students allegedly being followed and harmed by strangers off campus, schools at all levels have been urged to strengthen students’ safety awareness and victim prevention education. Cheng Shiu University has accordingly reinforced campus security measures and enhanced crisis response and self-protection capabilities among faculty and students, ensuring that students can study with peace of mind and grow in a healthy environment.

Strengthening Campus Safety Education and Self-Protection Awareness

To enhance students’ awareness of personal safety, Cheng Shiu University continues promoting campus safety education by reminding students to avoid entering or leaving campus alone too early in the morning or too late at night, while also encouraging them to travel in groups to reduce potential risks.

The university also emphasizes the following safety guidelines:

  • Avoid going alone to isolated areas on campus
  • Do not casually accept requests or invitations from strangers to leave campus
  • Immediately notify teachers or the Campus Security Center when encountering suspicious individuals
  • If followed by strangers off campus, quickly seek help in crowded areas or convenience stores

Through practical safety education and scenario-based reminders, the university helps students develop crisis awareness and the ability to seek immediate assistance, thereby strengthening overall campus safety resilience.

Enhancing Campus Patrols and Access Control to Create a Secure Learning Environment

Cheng Shiu University continues strengthening campus access control and patrol mechanisms by arranging personnel to monitor campus and surrounding areas during arrival and dismissal hours, increasing vigilance toward suspicious people, incidents, and objects while improving immediate reporting capabilities.

In addition, after-school clubs, study classes, and care program classrooms are managed in centralized locations to reduce the complexity of building access routes after class hours, further improving campus management efficiency and student safety.

Through systematic campus security measures, Cheng Shiu University is dedicated to creating a learning environment where students, parents, faculty, and staff all feel secure and supported.

Deepening Gender Equality Education and Respect for Diversity

Beyond campus safety, Cheng Shiu University actively supports the Ministry of Education’s “Gender Equality Education Day” initiative. Since 2023, the Ministry has designated April 20 each year as Gender Equality Education Day and has promoted related educational efforts under the “National Action Plan for the Prevention of Gender-Based Violence (2025–2027).”

The 2026 theme for gender equality education is “Understanding and Respecting Gender Diversity,” aiming to deepen awareness and respect for diverse gender identities among faculty and students while reinforcing the core principle of “greater understanding, no more discrimination.”

Through campus courses, lectures, and advocacy activities, Cheng Shiu University promotes:

  • Respect for diverse gender identities
  • The establishment of a discrimination-free campus culture
  • Greater awareness of gender violence prevention
  • Improved interpersonal interaction and empathy among students

At the same time, the Student Council continues organizing anti-bullying and student rights seminars, focusing on interpersonal relationships and learning rights both on and off campus, demonstrating the university’s commitment to democratic values and human rights education.

Integrating Humanistic Care and Sustainability to Promote a Friendly Campus Environment

Cheng Shiu University continues integrating humanistic care and sustainable development into campus governance and educational practice. From campus safety and gender equality to the development of student support systems, the university is steadily building an inclusive and secure learning environment.

The university also encourages faculty and students to utilize resources provided by the Ministry of Education’s Gender Equality Education Global Information Network and the university’s own gender equality education platform to access updated teaching materials, multimedia resources, and event information, further expanding the impact of gender equality education.

Looking ahead, Cheng Shiu University will continue aligning with Ministry of Education policies by advancing sustainable campus development through education, institutional systems, and environmental improvements, ensuring that every student can learn and grow in an environment defined by safety, equality, and respect.
