CSU’s Awakening of Pixels Exhibition Features 125 Works Exploring New Frontiers in AI Art

Opening Exhibition Showcases 125 Visions of AI Art
Cheng Shiu University (CSU) opened Awakening of Pixels: Tsai Sung-Te’s Experimental Exhibition of AI Visual Narratives on September 11 at the Art Center. Featuring 125 generative AI works by Professor Tsai of National Kaohsiung Normal University, the exhibition spans graphic art and multimedia, highlighting new possibilities at the intersection of AI and creativity.
Running through November 20, 2026, the exhibition welcomes students, faculty, community residents, and the public to explore generative AI and engage with art beyond the classroom.
Opening Campus Art Spaces to the Community
President Jui-Chang Kung noted that Professor Tsai integrates extensive experience in design, aesthetics, and practice with generative AI, revealing the diversity of technology-based art. The exhibition aims to strengthen aesthetic literacy and inspire new creative perspectives through viewing and exchange.
By opening its art spaces and presenting diverse exhibitions, CSU brings arts education into the community and everyday life. Visitors are invited to experience the visual imagination of generative AI at the CSU Art Center.
Refocusing on Creative Intent
Professor Tsai explained that AI can simulate and combine artistic styles and techniques, allowing creators to focus first on what they wish to express before choosing how to present it.
Characterized by vivid colors and surreal compositions, the works blend figures, masks, mythical creatures, plants, classical architecture, neon imagery, and geometric forms. Beyond showcasing AI-generated art, Awakening of Pixels invites reflection on the relationship between humans and AI in the creative process.
Integrating Lectures and Practice to Foster Interdisciplinary Talent
Director Shou-Che Wu of the Office of Technology and Art Development stated that the exhibition is accompanied by lectures, a Midjourney workshop, and a generative AI competition. These activities guide students from appreciation and learning to hands-on creation, helping them turn ideas into visual outcomes.
Supported by CSU’s Higher Education Sprout Project, the program integrates technology and art to develop students’ digital skills, aesthetic literacy, creative thinking, and practical capabilities for the AI era.
Advancing Sustainability through Technology and Art
In response to digital transformation and net-zero trends, CSU continues to integrate sustainability into teaching and campus activities. Digital creation expands opportunities for new media and interdisciplinary collaboration while encouraging reflection on energy use, copyright, information ethics, and creators’ responsibilities.
Through Awakening of Pixels, CSU shares campus arts resources with the wider community, expands access to technology-based art and lifelong learning, and cultivates interdisciplinary talent with professional expertise, sustainability literacy, and social awareness.
